Review of the Day

Contracts

Allan Saint-Maximin has signed a new 6 year deal with Newcastle United.

Transfers

Newcastle United teenager Jack Young has joined Tranmere Rovers on a season-long loan.

Queens Park Rangers have paid an undisclosed fee to Southend United to sign 18 year old striker Charlie Kelman.

Peterborough United have released midfielder George Boyd due to his wages. Manager Darren Ferguson said: "With the new salary cap regulations, we just couldn't find a way of fitting George into it. I want to thank George for his service to the football club. It has been an absolute privilege to manage him, he has been an outstanding professional and I wish him all the very best in the future."

Free agent right-back Nathaniel Clyne has signed for Crystal Palace after being released by Liverpool during the summer.

Injury Round-Up

Eric Dier has dropped out of the England squad with a hamstring injury.

Managerial Changes

Disciplinary Charges

Macclesfield Town have drawn the short straw and have appointed Robbie Savage as head of football operations.

Juventus have been handed a 3-0 win over Napoli after the Neapolitans failed to fulfil their Serie A fixture earlier this month. Napoli have also been deducted a point.

NZ Will Not Face England

New Zealand have decided not to travel to face England in an international friendly next month. New Zealand Football said: "The shifting nature of travel restrictions and commercial flight availability under Covid means that we do not have certainty we could assemble a squad at Wembley. Defaulting on this fixture at the last minute is not an option. Prior to Covid, we had a full calendar of fixtures planned and we have been proactive in seeking out matches but, unfortunately, it just isn't possible to make the games we have scheduled this year. A number of the team would be subject to quarantine or restrictions on their return home. This would heavily disrupt their domestic seasons."

Prem Clubs Against Project Big Picture

All 20 Premier League clubs have "unanimously agreed" to drop the 'Project Big Picture' proposal and look for a new "strategic plan". The clubs have also decided to launch a £50m rescue package for League One and Two clubs.
