Everton manager Carlo Ancelotti has dismissed rumours of a move for Real Madrid midfielder Isco as "bullshit". Ancelotti is quoted as saying: "We haven't started thinking about the team for the January market. So those comments are, as they say here, bullsh*t."

Injury Round-Up

Arsenal left-back Sead Kolasinac has become the latest footballer to test CV positive while on international duty.

Mohamed Salah has returned a second positive test and his return to England has been delayed, with self-isolation rules meaning he is likely to miss at least the next two Liverpool games.

Also testing positive is the manager of League Two side Harrogate Town, Simon Weaver. He missed last weekend's game as he went into precautionary self-isolation, with assistant Paul Thirlwell taking charge of the game against Crawley Town. Thirlwell will now continue to take charge for Saturday's game at Leyton Orient.

Los Angeles FC's star striker Diego Rossi has tested positive for CV ahead of Major League Soccer's play offs.

Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos is expected to miss the next 3 matches for them with a hamstring injury. They might also have to do without their other main centre-back, as Raphael Varane is struggling with a shoulder problem.

Managerial Changes

Craig Gardner has joined Tony Pulis' coaching staff at Sheffield Wednesday. The 33 year old quit Birmingham City a few days ago.

Paul Tisdale has been appointed as new manager of Bristol Rovers. The 47 year old spent 12 years in charge of Exeter City before taking over at MK Dons and leading them to promotion to League One in his first season. Despite that success, a year and a bit later he was sacked in November 2019 and has been out of work since.

Wayne Rooney has, unsurprisingly, thrown his hat into the ring to become new manager of Derby County. The former England striker joined the Rams as a player-coach in January and is currently in temporary charge of the club after the sacking of Phillip Cocu.

The English Football League's board has agreed to increase the number of substitutions a team is allowed to make in a single match to 5, from the current 3, for the rest of the season. The change takes place with immediate effect. There has also been a change to the number of players allowed on the bench for managers to choose between. League One and League Two clubs will be allowed seven substitutes and the Championship nine.

Serie A Set To Sell Stake

Serie A are set to sell a stake in their media business to a private equity consortium for around $2bn after all 20 clubs in the division backed the deal. Serie A chairman Paolo Dal Pino said: "We have found an agreement and unanimously voted in favour of the financial terms of the proposal, but we haven't closed the deal yet, we haven't committed yet. It's like when you go up the stairs, you've got to get to the top but we've come a long way."
