Hartlepool United have signed Jonathan Mitchell on a free transfer from Derby County.

Rochdale have signed Joel Coleman on a free transfer from Fleetwood Town and Danny Cashman on a season-long loan from Coventry City.

Hull City defender Festus Arthur has signed for Barrow on loan for the season.

Huddersfield Town have loaned Romoney Crichlow to Swindon Town for the season.

Jordan Flores' loan move to Northampton Town from Hull City has been made permanent.

Experienced free agent former Rangers forward Sone Aluko, who was released by Reading at the end of the season, has signed for Ipswich Town. Teenage striker Louie Barry, who had a short spell at Barcelona's La Masia youth academy, has joined Ipswich on a season-long loan from Aston Villa.

Doncaster Rovers have added free agent midfielder Dan Gardner to their squad and also signed Watford keeper Pontus Dahlberg on loan for the season.

Bolton Wanderers have signed Elias Kachunga on a free transfer from Sheffield Wednesday.

Ross County have made a triple signing. Midfielder Ben Paton arrives on a free transfer after being released by Blackburn Rovers. Charlton Athletic goalkeeper Ashley Maynard-Brewer and Coventry City youngster Jack Burroughs have both signed on season-long loan deals.

Derby County have signed a trio of free agents. Curtis Davies, who had been let go due to the Rams' financial situation earlier in the summer has re-signed for the club, along with Richard Stearman and Ryan Allsop as Wayne Rooney assembles a dad's army squad.

Matheus Pereira has signed for Saudi Professional League side Al Hilal from West Bromwich Albion for an undisclosed fee of £16.2m.

Former Nottingham Forest, Tottenham Hotspur and Hull City centre-back Michael Dawson has hung up his boots at the age of 37. He has returned to Spurs as a club ambassador.

Jaap Stam's MLS side FC Cincinnati have signed former Manchester United full-back Tyler Blackett on a free transfer from Nottingham Forest.

Either way, he has signed for Spurs. Atalanta had completed his permanent transfer from Juventus for £14.4m earlier in the day.

Major League Soccer's Colorado Rapids have signed Lucas Esteves on loan from Palmeiras.

Lens have paid just under £5m for Kevin Danso from Augsburg.

Coaching duo Martyn Margetson and Mike Marsh have left Swansea City, as new head coach Russell Martin brings in his own staff. Replacing Margetson and Marsh are Luke Williams, Matt Gill and Dean Thornton. Also leaving the Swans are head of performance analysis Steve Rands and fitness coach David Tivey.

Rio Backs Hammers Bid

West Ham United academy graduate Rio Ferdinand has given his backing to the takeover bid that PAI Capital Ltd have launched. Current owners Davids Sullivan and Gold have insisted that they are not looking to sell, but Philip Beard, the former QPR ceo who is heading up the bid, stated: "We genuinely believe that the club, stadium and [Queen Elizabeth Olympic] park will thrive when the stakeholders are all pulling in the same direction. The only thing holding us back for now is the reluctance of the club's owners to engage in constructive and realistic negotiations. We believe they are willing to sell, and hope we can make progress in the coming weeks." As a next step after being rebuffed trying to buy the club, PAI are currently negotiating with LLDC to buy the Hammers London Stadium home ground. The ground is rented from LLDC, who make a loss due to the deal involved which leaves taxpayers footing the bill for West Ham's shiny new stadium. LLDC have confirmed negotiations over a long leasehold, which would only happen if PAI manage to take a controlling interest in West Ham.
