Arsenal clinically disposed of Newcastle United in the Saturday evening game at The Emeriates.
Both sides were equal on points going into the match but in reality it was the only time on the evening when the sides could be compared as equal as Arsenal put Newcastle to the sword.
An Olivier Giroud brace and a strike by Spaniard Santi Cazorla had Arsenal cruising before Perez gave Newcastle a brief glimmer of hope by reducing the deficit to 3-1, however a late Santi Cazorla penalty, also his second of the game restored Arsenal's 3 goal cushion and ended the scoring in the game.
Newcastle were without their first and second choice goalkeepers through injury, with academy graduate Jak Alnwick starting his first match for the magpies. It would turn out to be a night to forget for the keeper and his team mates as Alexis Sanchez and co ran out extremely comfortable winners. A stark contrast to the previous weekends result when Newcastle performed excellently and stunned Chelsea to inflict their first defeat of the season.
