Fulham Add Porter To Squad
Fulham have added a thirteen year old fan to their squad after the youngster suffered abuse online after he posted a video of himself making save. Rhys Porter, who has cerebal palsy and epilepsy, has been named on the club's website as number one next to the club's actual number one Marek Rodak. Fulham stated: "Everyone at Fulham has been completely inspired by Rhys. We wanted to show him just how impressed we've been with both his attitude in the face of adversity, and his commitment to helping others. Rhys has cerebral palsy and epilepsy, and was recently subjected to vile online abuse after posting a video of him making a save." Porter, who is a goalkeeper, spent Friday afternoon training with the Championship club, joining in drills with their goalkeepers before being the guest of honour at their weekend game, where the players rushed to celebrate their goal with him.
Bolton Cut Gambling Ties
Bolton Wanderers have removed links to betting, despite the club nearly going bust just two years ago. Chief executive of the Trotters, Neil Hart, said the the club "didn't need to be part" of a market where adverts are "rammed down our throats". They will no longer have gambling sponsors and have removed betting kiosks at the stadium. Hart explained: "Bolton want to win on the pitch, but alongside that is doing the right thing. We just felt, with the saturation of betting advertising around football, we didn't need to be part of that. We are not saying to supporters don't bet, but we aren't going to provide you with that opportunity within the stadium and it's something we believed in. The early indication is its been received very positively and our supporters are very much aligned with us." The club will be still carrying branding for Sky Bet, who sponsor the league, plus advertising for the company will remain on its website.
