Transfers

Former Newcastle United defender Steven Taylor has hung up his boots after becoming fed up of extended periods of quarantine during his time with Australian A-League side Wellington Phoenix of New Zealand. According to the club, Taylor has spend around 3 months alone in hotel rooms in self-isolation. Taylor will return to England to be with his family.

Injury Round-Up

Bristol City manager Nigel Pearson will be missing for their next two matches after the 58-year-old tested cv positive. Assistant manager Curtis Fleming will be in charge while Pearson isolates.

Chelsea midfielder N'Golo Kante has also tested cv positive and will be in isolation for the next 10 days.

Managerial Changes

Steve McClaren has stepped down as technical director of Derby County, but will stay on as a part-time senior advisor. McClaren only re-joined the Derby board in November but the club's entry into administration has seen him step down.

Disciplinary Charges

The 15th of September Championship match between Stoke City and Barnsley has seen both clubs fined. The two teams drew 1-1 but tempers flared after Stoke's Tommy Smith made a lunging challenge on Claudio Gomes in the 85th minute and was sent off. Heated scenes on the touchline led to Barnsley coach Joe Laumann and Stoke coaches Dean Holden and Rory Delap being sent off. Stoke were fined £10,000, plus Holden was given a one-game ban and a £2,000 fine. Delap was also banned for one-game and given a £1,800 fine. Barnsley were fined £8,000 and Laumann was given a two-match ban plus £2,500 fine. Barnsley coach Tonda Eckert was handed a three-game ban and £2,750 fine.

St Johnstone have been fined £1,900 by UEFA after objects were thrown onto the pitch during their defeat to LASK. Experienced midfielder David Wotherspoon has also been suspended for 3-matches for his straight red card for elbowing Florian Flecker.
