Sampdoria have given teenage midfielder Simone Trimboli a new deal which runs until 2024.

Exeter City's Jack Sparkes is signed up until 2023.

Kenny Dougall has signed a contract with Blackpool which ends in 2023.

Transfers

Free agent Brazilian defender Jemerson has signed for Metz. The 29-year-old had a previous spell in Ligue 1 with AS Monaco.

Watford have also signed a free agent defender that was formerly in Ligue 1, this time Cameroon defender Nicolas N'Koulou.

Darren Ferguson has been fined £2,000 and given a one-game touchline ban by the Football Association. The Peterborough United boss admitted to using abusive and insulting words towards a match official in the tunnel area after a 3-2 home defeat at the hands of Bristol City.

Coventry City striker Matt Godden has been given a 2-match ban for diving. The 30-year-old was awarded a penalty, which he converted to give Coventry a 2-1 lead over Fulham. The game ended in a 4-1 win for the Sky Blues.

Kenyan club Gor Mahia have been handed a second FIFA transfer ban of the year, after they again failed to pay monies owing to a former player. The Nairobi-based team, who hold the record for most league titles in Kenya, over just over $30,000 to Owusu Jackson and will be banned from signing players until he is paid. The ban was put in place after the club's document claiming mutual termination was found to be suspicious. Jackson had previously in his career signed documents using a thumb print, but the "confirmation of release bears a signature".

Prem Awards

While I am on the subject of awards, the Premier League announced its monthly awards for September, with Mikel Arteta getting the manager of the month award for guiding Arsenal to the dizzying heights of 11th. The player of the month award went to Manchester United's Cristiano Ronaldo, who must be texting all those limp-wristed goalkeepers that allowed the shots hit straight at them to go in anyway and thanking them for their help in getting this award.
