Wycombe Wanderers midfielder Nick Freeman is now tied to the club until 2023.

Javi Martinez has signed a new contract with Osasuna which expires in 2026.

Sunderland academy graduate Elliot Emblen has extended his contract with the Black Cats until 2025.

Transfers

Free agent former Manchester United goalkeeper Sergio Romero has signed for Serie A side Venezia.

Steven Lawless has been released by Motherwell by "mutual consent".

Injury Round-Up

Manchester United's summer signing from Real Madrid, France defender Raphael Varane, has picked up a groin injury on international duty. The 28-year-old is expected to miss a few weeks: "Raphael Varane sustained a groin muscle injury in the Nations League final and has commenced rehabilitation at the club. He will be out for a few weeks."

Bournemouth's Welsh international midfielder David Brooks has revealed that he has been diagnosed with cancer. The 24-year-old wrote on social media: "This is a very difficult message for me to write. I have been diagnosed with Stage 2 Hodgkin lymphoma and will begin a course of treatment next week. Although this has come as a shock to myself and my family, the prognosis is a positive one and I am confident that I will make a full recovery and be back playing as soon as possible. I'd like to show my appreciation to the doctors, nurses, consultants and staff who have been treating me for their professionalism, warmth and understanding during this period. I want to thank everyone at the Football Association of Wales because without the swift attention of their medical team we may not have detected the illness. I'd also like to say thank you to AFC Bournemouth for all of their support and assistance this past week. Although I appreciate that there will be media attention and interest, I would like to ask that my privacy is respected in the coming months and I will share updates on my progress when I am able to do so. In the meantime, thank you to everyone for their messages of support - it means so much and will continue to do so in the months ahead. I look forward to seeing you all again and playing the sport I love very soon."

Managerial Changes

Disciplinary Charges

A Port Vale fan has been given an "indefinite ban" by the club for his racist abuse of Leyton Orient goalkeeper Lawrence Vigouroux. Former Liverpool youngster Vigouroux received abuse on social media by the teenage Vale supporter, who is now being investigated by police.

Poland's World Cup qualifying win over Albania in Tirana was marred by objects thrown from the crowd. The game was suspended after Karol Swiderski game Poland the lead in the 13th minute and he and his team-mates were then pelted with plastic drink bottles thrown from the stands. The players left the pitch and the match was suspended for 20 minutes. It was the second such incident during the game as Polish midfielder Piotr Zielinski had already been the target of an object thrown from the crowd before the goal. A post-match interview with the goal scorer had to be cut short as more bottles were thrown at him. Poland's captain, Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski, said: "After the goal there were full bottles flying in, so it was a bit dangerous, but we came back and finished the game."

England's qualifier against Hungary was also marred by crowd problems, which began as Hungary's travelling support booed the England players for taking a knee prior to kick-off. They then fought with police, as they attempted to arrest a Hungary supporter for "a racially aggravated public order offence".

Teenage Manchester United forward Anthony Elanga was allegedly the subject of a racist comment by an opponent while playing for Sweden's Under-21s against their Italian equivalents.
