Football News: Poyet hits out at Allardyce for being less honest

Sunderland manager Gus Poyet has hit back after West Ham United manager Sam Allardyce accused Adam Johnson of diving to win a penalty in the two teams 1-1 draw.

Poyet accused Allardyce of being less honest, and suggested that the former Bolton and Newcastle United manager would have spoken differently if the shoe had been on the other foot.

"I think that is a little harsh [to say Johnson dived]," said Poyet. "I don't think it was a penalty.

"I wouldn't like to talk about any other players, but I am prepared to give him the benefit of the doubt because maybe he was not happy. I don't think he dived. The defender was there and was stronger, bigger.

"The referee gave the penalty and you are not going to say no! He [Allardyce] probably didn't talk about the second half penalty. If it was the other way around, he would probably say that his players never dive and the second one was a blatant penalty!

"I try to be a bit more honest. Sometimes you get it, sometimes it goes against you. I haven't watched them back, so I am going by what I thought live at the time. I didn't think the first one was a penalty, but the second one was clear."
