Burton Albion defender Kieran Wallace has signed for Mansfield Town on a free transfer. Mansfield Town have also released Corey O'Keeffe and the 23-year-old defender has signed for Rochdale, where he had been on loan. Rochdale have also paid an undisclosed fee to sign Tahvon Campbell from Woking.

Walsall have taken Reece Devine on loan from Manchester United and paid an undisclosed fee to sign Devante Rodney from Port Vale.

John Akinde was released by Gillingham so that the experienced forward could sign for Colchester United.

Port Vale have taken both Ipswich Town goalkeeper Tomas Holy and Oxford United forward Joel Cooper on loan.

Doncaster Rovers have taken Ben Jackson on loan from Huddersfield Town.

Former Liverpool youth player Conor Masterson has joined Gillingham on loan from Queens Park Rangers.

An undisclosed fee has sealed the signing of Kieran Sadlier to Bolton Wanderers from Rotherham United.

Another undisclosed fee has been paid by Crewe Alexandra for Bassala Sambou from Fortuna Sittard.

Preston North End's former Manchester United youngster Josh Harrop has signed for Fleetwood Town on loan.

Injury Round-Up

Newcastle United defender Lewis Cass has had his loan spell with Mansfield Town cut short after he suffered a double ankle tear in training.

Another knee operation has put an end to Walsall forward Rory Holden's season. The 24-year-old has been struggling with knee problems since December 2020.

A heart issue has been discovered in Sunderland keeper Lee Burge which is expected to keep him out for a month. The 29-year-old has suffered heart palpitations since catching CV recently.

 


Managerial Changes

Derby County manager Wayne Rooney has revealed he turned down the chance to return to former club Everton as manager: "Everton approached my agent and asked me to interview for the job, but I turned them down. It was a difficult decision. I believe I will be a Premier League manager and that I am ready for that 100%. If that comes with Everton, great. But I have a job at Derby, which is important to me."

Hull City have appointed former Rangers forward Shota Arveladze as their new head coach. The 48-year-old has been brought in following a takeover by a Turkish company called Acun Medya Group.

 

Disciplinary Charges

Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker was rescued by VAR twice while playing for Brazil against Ecuador. Twice the referee showed Alisson a red card during the match before viewing a replay changed his mind. Ecuador also had two penalty awards withdrawn by VAR.

On the national team's return from the African Cup of Nations, one of Gabon's kitmen was arrested on the airport tarmac as part of an investigation into widespread sexual abuse that is alleged to be taking place in football in the country. Four other members of the nation's football community have been arrested over allegations of them raping and sexually abusing minors. FIFA are also looking into the allegations.
