Injury Round-Up

Sheffield United have lost former Liverpool striker Rhian Brewster to a "significant hamstring injury".

Portsmouth midfielder Shaun Williams has suffered a fractured lower vertebrae after colliding with team-mate Clark Robertson in the match against Charlton Athletic on Monday.

Veteran Wycombe Wanderers midfielder Matt Bloomfield has been forced to retire on medical grounds. The 38-year-old suffered severe concussion after being hit on the back of the head by a free-kick in August.

Managerial Changes

West Bromwich Albion have sacked their manager Valerien Ismael after losing to Millwall at the weekend. While the Frenchman had taken the Baggies to 5th in the Championship, fans were unhappy with the style of football being played and there were problems rumbling with the players at the club.

Disciplinary Charges

After an outcry from supporters, directors and sponsors, Raith Rovers have admitted they "got it wrong" by signing rapist David Goodwillie. Rovers' chairman John Sim has now said that Goodwillie will not play for the club and they will be holding talks over cancelling the 32-year-old's contract.

Both Derby County and Nottingham Forest have been fined £10,000 each by the Football Association. The two sets of players clashed after a challenge by Derby's Ravel Morrison on Forest's Philip Zinckernagel, which led to the former Manchester United youngster being sent off.

Burton Albion have been fined £4,500 for failing to ensure their players conducted themselves in an orderly fashion against AFC Wimbledon on 22nd January.

Auba Hits Out At Arteta

Barcelona's new signing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has claimed that he had "a problem" with Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta, which led to his move to the Catalans in the January transfer window. The Gabonese striker had been stripped of the captaincy of the Gunners due to disciplinary issues and had also been frozen out of the team. Aubameyang said: "I think it was a problem just with him. He made the decision. I can't say much more. He wasn't happy, I stayed very calm and that's it. It's true that they were complicated months and I think football has these things sometimes. But if I have to say something about this topic, it is that I never wanted to do anything wrong on my part, but I think this is the past and I want to think about the present."

Toon Cut Squad

Newcastle United's Premier League squad needed trimming after the Toon signed Kieran Trippier, Chris Wood, Bruno Guimaraes, Dan Burn and Matt Targett in January. New manager Eddie Howe has left out Jamal Lewis and Ciaran Clark by choice, as well as Isaac Hayden due to his long-term knee injury.

Motherwell Post Record Profit

The club record sale of David Turnbull to Celtic has helped Motherwell post club record profit of £3.75m. Turnbull moved to Celtic in August 2020 in a deal that could eventually reach £3.25m. The figures also include a £1.5m interest-free loan from the Scottish government.
