Contracts

Leicester City have agreed a new deal with Ricardo Pereira which will run until 2026.

Eintracht Frankfurt have given veteran midfielder Makoto Hasebe a new contract which will expire at the end of next season.

Teenage midfielder Andy Diouf has extended his contract with Stade Rennais until 2025.

Guingamp defender Baptiste Roux is now tied down until 2024.

Accrington Stanley midfielder David Morgan has been given a 1-year contract extension, which will see him through until 2024.

Transfers

After being released by Major League Soccer's Philadelphia Union last month, free agent American midfielder Anthony Fontana has signed for Ascoli.

Free agent former Everton striker Oumar Niasse has signed for Burton Albion.

New York Red Bulls have taken Stoke City right-back Tom Edwards on loan again for the 2022 MLS season.

Swedish Allsvenskan club Degerfors have signed Joe Gyau on a free transfer from FC Cincinnati.

Injury Round-Up

Liverpool have ruled Diogo Jota out of the weekend's game against Norwich City.

Newcastle United head coach Eddie Howe has revealed that the Tyneside club are unsure whether January signing Kieran Trippier will play again this season after requiring foot surgery.

Birmingham City have ruled both Scott Hogan and Troy Deeney out for a month with calf injuries.

Blackburn Rovers have been cautious over their Chile international striker Ben Brereton Diaz, merely saying he will be out "for a period of time". The 22-year-old suffered a twisted ankle against West Bromwich Albion and will definitely not be fit to face Millwall this weekend.

Welsh Under-21 international midfielder Tom Pugh is set to miss the rest of the season. The Scunthorpe United player picked up a knee injury that requires surgery while making a tackle against Walsall in a League Two game.

Managerial Changes

Aberdeen have been granted permission by St Mirren to talk to Jim Goodwin about him becoming their new manager. Stephen Glass was sacked on Sunday by the Dons.

On the advice of Gordon Strachan, Dundee have appointed Mark McGhee as their new manager.

Disciplinary Charges

Derby County manager Wayne Rooney has gotten off with just a warning from the Football Association over comments he chose to wear boots with long metal studs in order "to injure someone" during his playing days. Rooney's former Manchester United team-mate Roy Keane was banned and fined back in 2002 after making similar comments.

Manchester United have been charged with failing "to ensure its players conducted themselves in an orderly fashion" during their win over Brighton & Hove Albion.

The English Football League are warning clubs that they could be docked points if they fail to pay players on time under new rules agreed at an extraordinary general meeting on Thursday. Clubs are warned that they must "self"-report any failure to pay wages within 2 working days or fall foul of the regulations. Those clubs will be unable to register players until any missed payments are made and could also face point deductions.

The Football Association have given Barrow manager Mark Cooper an 8-match touchline ban for using "abusive and/or insulting words" to an assistant referee and been fined £3,000. The FA also found him guilty of making reference to the female assistant's gender, requiring him to attend a face-to-face education course.

Rangnick Denies Rift Rumours

After stories appeared in the tabloids claiming that there is a rift between Manchester United captain Harry 'Slabdhead' Maguire and veteran striker Cristiano Ronaldo over the club's captaincy, interim head coach Ralf Rangnick has moved to deny there is any truth in the claims. Rangnick said: "This is absolutely nonsense - I've never spoken with players about captaincy. It's never been an issue with me. Harry is our captain and will stay our captain. I'm not frustrated at all because I know it is not true. I don't listen to that noise because I focus on preparing the team. I have heard about what was written. Yes, there were players that were unhappy at the end of the window. This has improved and the atmosphere in the locker room is better than it was a few weeks ago. It's about performing well and showing togetherness on the pitch. That's what we can influence."
