Argentine right-back Saravia has been released by Porto.

Injury Round-Up

Shrewsbury Town are likely to be without experienced midfielder David Davis for the rest of the season due to an ankle injury. The 31 year old picked up ligament damage landing awkwardedly after leaping for a header.

Managerial Changes

Keith Millen has been replaced as manager of Carlisle United after just 22 games in charge. The Cumbrians have turned to Paul Simpson again to rescue them from the prospect of relegation from the Football League. Carlisle are currently second from bottom of League Two with just 3 points from their last 8 matches. In his previous spell in charge, Simpson took Carlisle from the National League and into League One with back-to-back promotions.

Leyton Orient have sacked manager Kenny Jackett after a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Bristol Rovers. The loss was their 4th in a row leaving them just 5 points above the relegation places. At the start of December Orient were 7th in the League Two table but picked up 2 points from their next 10 matches to slide down the table. Matt Harrold has been put in interim control of the team.

League Two Bradford City have turned to former Wales boss Mark Hughes to replace Derek Adams as their manager. Adams has returned to the club he left to take over at Bradford - Morecambe - as their new manager.

Antonio Conte has put his name forward as the next manager for the chop. The Tottenham Hotspur head coach said after the defeat to Burnley: "I came here to help the club and if the problem could be the coach I'm ready to go, no problem. I am not used to this situation. I am trying everything but the situation is not changing. I am available and open with the club to do what the club wants. I want to help the club, I work a lot, I work very hard. I am giving 20 hours a day to Tottenham and the other four hours I sleep but it is not enough. The performance can be good and the commitment was good but we lost. For me the situation is unacceptable. To lose four of five [games] for Tottenham has to be a disaster. I came in to try to improve the situation. Maybe in this moment I am not so good to improve the situation. I am too honest to close my eyes and continue in this way. For sure we are to speak and have a conversation with the club to try and find the best solution to help the team not have this type of situation. It is the right moment to make assessment. I repeat, I am really frustrated."

Peterborough United have reappointed Grant McCann following Darren Ferguson's resignation. McCann was recently sacked by Hull City following their takeover and his first match back in charge of the Posh will be against Hull.

Port Vale have extended the compassionate leave of their manager Darrell Clarke due to a close family bereavement. Adam Murray has been brought in to the coaching team to help out acting boss Andy Crosby.

Disciplinary Charges

Barnsley have been fined £10,000 by the Football Association for their complaints to the referee after he awarded a penalty against them when they played Luton Town.

Both Tranmere Rovers and Swindon Town have been fined £1,500 each by the Football Association over a melee during their League Two fixture earlier this month.

A 19 year old man has pleaded guilty to attacking 3 Nottingham Forest players during their 4-1 FA Cup victory over Premier League Leicester City. Cameron Toner was sentenced to four months in a young offenders institution and banned from attending football matches for 10 years, fined £100, ordered to pay a £128 victim surcharge and £85 costs.

Crawley Town's manager John Yems has been charged by the FA for alleged use of abusive or offensive language towards referee Brett Huxtable after he was sent off following the defeat to Hartlepool United.

Both Newport County and Mansfield Town have been charged over a melee between the two clubs' players during their draw at Rodney Parade.

Brazilians Plea For Help

A group of Brazilian footballers who were playing in Ukrainian football have pleaded for help to leave the country following the invasion by Russia. Around 20 players and their families are currently holed up in a hotel in Kyiv and have been stranded as flights have been suspended and the borders have been closed. In a video posted on social media, one of the players Shakhtar Donetsk's veteran Junior Moraes said: "Borders are closed, [so are] banks, there is no fuel, there will be a shortage of food, there is no money. We are gathered waiting for a plan to leave Ukraine."

Bielsa Admits Relegation Battle Is On

Following Leeds United's 6-0 hammering at the hands of Liverpool, their Argentine head coach Marcelo Bielsa has admitted that his team are in the midst of a relegation battle. Bielsa said: "A result like today you can't explain it with the absences. We are fighting relegation. Of course it worries me, how is it not going to? The distances between the two teams, we were never able to reduce them. In the second half we thought it would be difficult to play an even game but we wanted to prevent or avoid what ended up happening."
