Contracts

On his 14th birthday Maximo Carrizo has signed a professional contract with New York City FC to become the youngest player in Major League Soccer history. His contract runs until the end of 2027 with an option for 2028. The previous record holder was Axel Kei who was 14 years and 15 days old when signing a contract with Real Salt Lake City.

Cardiff City have extended their manager Steve Morison's contract for an extra season, which will see it run until the end of next season.

Transfers

Torpedo Moscow have released their Ukrainian left-back Oleksandr Kapliyenko.

Colombian winger Billy Arce has been released by Brighton & Hove Albion.

Tomas Ostrak has signed for St Louis City, a new MLS expansion team, on a free transfer from 1.FC Koln.

Despite saying they would sever his contract, Raith Rovers have instead loaned rapist David Goodwillie to Clyde.

Injury Round-Up

Rangers have revealed that they do not have a timeline for the return to action of January signing Aaron Ramsey. Ramsey has managed just 94 minutes of playing time since signing on loan from Juventus.

Managerial Changes

Former Liverpool and West Ham United defender Rigobert Song has been appointed as the new boss of Cameroon's national team on the orders of the nation's president, Paul Biya.

Disciplinary Charges

PGMOL chief Mike Riley has apologised to Everton after they were denied a clear penalty against Manchester City, after both the referee and VAR decided a clear handball was not worthy of a decision. Riley called both Everton head coach Frank Lampard and the Toffees' chairman Bill Kenwright to apologise for the abysmal decision, which could have cost them a point as they face up to a potential relegation battle.

Ukraine Invasion

West Ham United will give their Ukrainian forward Andriy Yarmolenko as much time as he needs, after the 32 year old was given compassionate leave. The Hammers head coach David Moyes said: "He's really upset with the whole situation. He realises the difficulty. He is a long way away and can't do anything about it. He came back in yesterday; we had a good chat. We won't rush him. If he feels fine, he will travel with the team. If he doesn't we will give him more time off. We will give him a chance to go with his own feelings. We would like to offer him more help and more support. We are speaking to him most days. The players were great with him yesterday - they tried to integrate him and made him feel really welcome and his family."

A number of Ukrainian clubs, including Shakhtar Donetsk, Dynamo Kyiv and SK Dnipro-1 have evacuated their foreign players to Romania.

Everton's real owner, through his frontman Farhad Moshiri, Russian billionaire Alisher Usmanov has had his assets frozen by the European Union and he has been banned from travelling within the EU. The EU council announced: "Alisher Usmanov is a pro-Kremlin oligarch with particularly close ties to Russian president Vladimir Putin."

Real Madrid have so far failed to act to remove their Russian sponsor Fonbet.
