Contracts

Wolverhampton Wanderers have been boosted as their young Portugese forward Pedro Neto has signed a new long term deal which will expire in 2027.

Hartlepool United have given first-team coach Tony Sweeney a new contract. Sweeney, who made 444 appearances for them as a player, has signed what is being called a "long-term" contract.

Republic of Ireland manager Stephen Kenny has signed a contract extension to manage the nation until Euro 2024.

Transfers

Charlotte FC have paid £164,000 to fellow Major League Soccer franchise Houston Dynamo for the signature of American midfielder Derrick Jones.

French midfielder Remy Cabella has been released by Russian Premier Liga club Krasnodar.

Rangers youngster Charlie McCann has transferred his international allegiance to Northern Ireland from the Republic of Ireland. Rangers signed the teenager from Manchester United last summer.

Injury Round-Up

Despite Reading being in the midst of a relegation battle in the Championship, Paul Ince has revealed that he is going to be cautious over players returning from long-term injuries. Ince told the BBC: "I've got to think about the bigger picture. It's a pivotal part of the season. As much as I would like to throw players like Scott and Josh straight into the starting line-up, if they pick up even minor injuries again, then they are out for the rest of the season. It's great to have this increased competition in the squad as I don't want the players getting complacent. We've got to change the mentality, the players have lost their way a bit this season and it's about instilling that belief. There's a balance of play to be struck. As good as we are as an attacking unit, if we keep conceding three or four goals each game, then there's no way back. If we can stay in games as long as possible, we're always going get chances to win with our attacking players." Veteran defender Scott Dann, midfielder Josh Laurent and forward Yakou Meite have recently returned to fitness following injury spells.

Coventry City's Jake Bidwell has been ruled out for 6 weeks with a groin injury after a scan revealed "significant tears" to a bilateral adductor.

After returning from two months on the sidelines with a hamstring problem, Leicester City's former England international striker Jamie Vardy has been ruled out for a "few weeks". The 35 year old "got a knock to his knee" on his first start since returning in the Foxes' win over Leeds United.

Managerial Changes

Former Salford City and Doncaster Rovers boss Richie Wellens has been appointed as the new head coach of Leyton Orient. The 41-year-old takes over with Orient sat in 20th place in League Two, just 4 points above the relegation places.

Ukraine Invasion

Former Ukraine captain Anatoliy Timoschuk is under fire from the Ukrainian FA after the 42 year old refused to speak out against the invasion of Ukraine by Russia. Tymoschuk has been working as an assistant coach at Zenit St Petersburg, in Russia, since 2017, and has continued to work for the club despite the invasion. Ukraine's FA has called for him to be stripped of his coaching license and all the trophies he won in career. Tymoschuk is Ukraine's most-capped player ever with 144 appearances for his country and was part of Bayern Munich's treble-winning side of 2012/3.

The British government has placed sanctions on Roman Abramovich, which have included freezing the Russian oligarch's assets, which include Chelsea FC. The London club have been blocked from selling tickets for matches, though existing ticket holders will be able to go to matches. They are also unable to sell merchandise or negotiate new deals for potential signings or existing players. The club is also limited to £20,000 expenses for away trips and costs of £500,000 per home fixture and the hotel at Stamford Bridge is unable to take bookings. The proposed sale of the club has also been put on hold. Brentford, who are set to play Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on 2nd April, have sought clarification over what to do with the away tickets they have yet to sell. Chelsea's current shirt sponsor, the mobile phone network 3, are reviewing their position, along with other club sponsors.

Robins To Buy Stadium

Swindon Town are closing in on a deal to buy their County Ground stadium in partnership with a supporters club. The County Ground Stadium Custodians Trust and Swindon will pay £2.3m to buy the club from the local council, three years after a similar deal fell through due to a legal dispute over the club's ownership.
