Contracts

TSG 1899 Hoffenheim have given former Leicester City striker Andrej Kramaric a new deal which will run out in 2025.

Nottingham Forest midfielder Ryan Yates has extended his contract with the Midlands club until 2025. Their third choice goalkeeper Jordan Smith has also extended but until 2023.

Cardiff City's teenage defender Oliver Denham has agreed to a new deal which will expire in 2024.

Transfers

Brazilian forward Matheus Peixoto has signed for Ceara SC on loan from Ukrainian Persha Liga side Metalist Kharkiv.

Free agent former Huddersfield Town winger Isaac Mbenza has signed for Belgian Jupiler Pro League side RSC Charleroi.

Slovenian winger Benjamin Verbic has signed for Legia Warsaw on loan from Ukrainian side Dynamo Kyiv.

Paraguayan defender Junior Alonso has signed for Atletico Mineiro on loan from Russian club Krasnodar. Alonso only arrived in Russia in January for an 8m euro fee.

Flamengo have paid £2.25m to sign Brazilian defender Pablo from Lokomotiv Moscow.

Injury Round Up

Nottingham Forest manager Steve Cooper has ruled out defensive duo Max Lowe and Steve Cook for 6 weeks. Lowe picked up a groin injury and Cook hurt his ankle in the 4-0 thrashing of Reading.

Ryan Ledson's season has ended prematurely after the Preston North End midfielder suffered a knee injury.

Managerial Changes

Disciplinary Charges

Bournemouth's manager Scott Parker has been handed a 1-match touchline ban and £2,000 fine from the Football Association for using abusive language towards officials, following Preston North End's late winner on 5th March.

Ukraine Invasion

Despite the uncertainty at Chelsea due to the sanctions placed on owner Roman Abramovich, Thomas Tuchel has pledged to stay until the end of the season. Tuchel said: "There's no doubt I stay until the end of the season. We just have to wait day by day because everything can change. This result has a huge impact on us, to give this pleasure to our fans means a lot. It changes everything. We are aware how privileged we are. This is a huge club, we are in the focus, but we are very privileged. Hundreds of people in this club are not so privileged, maybe face a more existential threat and are more worried about their future than us. This gives us a responsibility to fight for them, keep their heads up high and not give in. This is what we can do and this is what they demand from us." The London club's former goalkeeper turned technical advisor, Petr Cech, expressed concern for the club's workers and ability to operate in the future: "We have a lot of questions but not many answers. We hope the people working for the club will be able to get their salaries and live their lives, and hopefully work. But this is a difficult question for me to answer as I don't know what the licence will be like in days. That's why conversations are going on. We would like to know how we operate and what we can do with the team going forward. Without these answers, it's difficult to plan. We go day by day and we need to do it this way at the moment."

PSG Players Booed Despite Win

Paris Saint-Germain fans have turned on the players, club president and sporting director following their capitulation, again, in the Champions League. Real Madrid overturned a 2-0 first-leg deficit to advance to the next round 3-2 on aggregate in midweek and that raised loud calls for PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi and sporting director Leonardo to resign, with Mauricio Pochettino left with just the Ligue 1 title to aim for, despite the billions spent by the club. A routine 3-0 league victory over Bordeaux at home was coloured by boos for players such as Neymar and Lionel Messi, who have since been offered support by former teammates Cesc Fabregas and Luis Suarez. Both former players claimed football has no memory, which seems silly to suggest when it is a memory of repeated failures in the Champions League that has led to the booing.

Ziyech Rejects Call Up

Chelsea winger Hakim Ziyech has rejected a call up by Morocco for their World Cup play-off against DR Congo later in the month. Ziyech had announced his decision to retire from international football in February at the age of just 28. The former Ajax man has not played for his country since June 2021 and he said: "I love my country and playing for the national team has been the honour of my lifetime, so it is with great sadness that I must announce that although the FRMF president confirmed that I will be pre-selected for the team I won't be returning to play for Morocco. I'm sorry to disappoint the fans, this was not an easy decision to make, but sadly I feel I have no other choice." Ajax defender Noussair Mazraoui has also rejected the call up due to having been left out of recent squads.
