Football News: Football League confirm embargo for 3 Championship clubs
The Football League have released a statement confirming that 3 Championship clubs will be placed under an FFP transfer embargo.
Blackburn Rovers, Leeds United and Nottingham Forest are the three clubs that have failed to meet the Financial Fair Play rules that govern the Championship.
The trio exceeded the permitted maximum loss of £3m + £5m shareholder investment that the rules allowed for the 2013/4 season.
Under the rules of the embargo, the clubs will be blocked from registering new players, either on permanent or loan contracts, unless they have 24 or fewer established players.
Established meaning aged 21 or over and having made 5 or more appearances for the club in question.
They are also blocked from spending anything on transfer fees or loan fees for any of the players that join, with incoming players only being able to earn 75% of the outgoing one they replace, up to a maximum of £600,000 per annum.
The clubs will be able to remove the embargo at the end of the season by demonstrating that they have stayed within the £6million (£3m loss + £3m shareholder investment) allowable under the rules for 2013/4.
