Gianluca Scammaca has sat out Sassuolo's pre-season friendly with Vicenza, watching on from the bench for the full 90 minutes as talks with Paris Saint-Germain take place over his signature.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has revealed that the club are unlikely to sign a midfielder unless they lose someone from the team. He also said that a move for Jude Bellingham is not happening because the Borussia Dortmund star is not on the market this summer. Tellingly he did say that is the only problem with the England midfielder.

Schalke 04 have confirmed that their Wales international Rabbi Matondo is not with the squad due to "transfer talks". It is being reported that the fleet-footed youngster is set to join Rangers.

Injury Round Up

Wolverhampton Wanderers have lost Chiquinho to an anterior cruciate ligament injury during a friendly against Burnley. The 22-year-old had scored during the 3-0 win before colliding with a defender, probably meaning his season is over before it has even begun.

Leeds United full-back Junior Firpo has not travelled to Australia with the squad due to a knock.

Chelsea are missing Ruben Loftus-Cheek and N'Golo Kante from their pre-season tour of the USA due to the duo not being fully vaccinated against Covid-19. Only US citizens are able to enter the country without a full vaccination.

Job Changes

John Terry has claimed he rejected three management jobs last year and was turned down for two others after being questioned about not having taken a top job after leaving Aston Villa as assistant manager last year to pursue his ambitions as a manager. Terry is currently employed as a consultant at former club Chelsea.

Nottingham Forest have appointed a new head physio. Simon Murphy left his role as a senior physio at Arsenal to take up the post at newly promoted Forest. Murphy only joined the Gunners in July 2021 after 7 years at Leicester City were he had risen through the ranks to become their head physio. Murphy had been a student in Nottingham prior to joining Leicester, so it marks a homecoming of sorts. Leaving the City Ground is previous head physio Neil Simms, who has become Lead Performance Physio at Southampton. First-team physio Luis Pinho has also left Forest to take up a role at Tottenham Hotspur.

Disciplinary Charges

The European Super League case has begun in the European Court of Justice today. The case is to be heard in front of a Grand Chamber of 15 ECJ judges, instead of the usual 3 or 5 judges. The European Super League Company SL and A22 are contending that UEFA and FIFA abused a dominant position under European competition law by blocking the formation of the league and then attempting to sanction the clubs involved.

Ramsey Signs Contract Termination

Juventus' former Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey is not the most popular player at the club, even before he went out on loan to Rangers last season. His huge wages and constant injuries have seen Ramsey become a figure of hate for the Juve fans. This summer he has been involved in lengthy talks over having his contract cancelled as the Serie A giants look to be rid of the Welsh international. Ramsey's return to pre-season training saw one of the Juve fans prank him into signing a "recissione contrrrattuale" (contract termination) while he was signing autographs outside of the medical centre (fittingly as Ramsey spends most of his time in the medical centre). Unfortunately for Juve I very much doubt it would be legally binding!
