Football News: Current thoughts on Rangers Football Club

Current thoughts on Rangers Football Club

So the Rangers accounts do look great, a great turnaround and will look stronger again next year. However the pay structure to some of the players on the books is a concern as lot of them are not contributing or even showing they want to be here with Roofe being an example.

With Jack and Helander, their injuries are so bad they barely make 20 games a season, especially Helander. Do we see him staying when he's back from injury and does he want to stay or will he be one leaving? Is Jack warranting the money we pay him and is he going to be one to rely on?

Injuries can't be helped, however when it becomes the norm and not the exception then something surely has to be done. What's the point in keeping injury prone players in our team when we can't rely on them or pick them when they're needed. Surely better to offload and get players in who can play as many games as we need them too like Goldson and Tavernier have shown.

Souter is another who is injury prone. I really don't see the point on the gamble on this one anymore so far it's definitely not worked out.

Roofe is another from what we hear with rumours, half the time he may not be as badly injured as he makes out and potentially could have been playing a role in our team, but instead decided to make himself unavailable for selection whilst receiving a nice pay packet?

In all honesty and I'm going to be brutally honest, Sakala and Wright really are not the players we need anymore either, we should be moving on from players like this if we want to move forward as a club. A club that wants to compete with the top Clubs of Europe and be winning domestic cups and leagues. Sakala and Wright are in my opinion the quality of player the likes of Hibs, Hearts and Aberdeen would have on their books. I think it's time they move on either in January or in the summer.

I'm really on the fence with Sands, I don't think we should be signing him full time along with Tillman. However, if Tillman can settle better and perhaps plays more consistently, then perhaps if we sign him for the reported 1.8m?, we could potentially make profit further down the line in relation to our player trading model.

With Matondo, I'm on the fence with, perhaps the club feel that with our player trading model we hopefully make profit further down the line with the player, but again he needs to settle better and play more consistently for me.

Kent and Morelos, I think their minds are made up and they will be leaving in the summer on a free unless we can sell them in January for some money. However, I will say I feel both players have let the club down and the fans on their performances over the best part of a year. Kent has never hit the heights he was expected too and he most of all, I think he has let himself down. He just doesn't do it for me at all and being a player who cost the club a considerable amount of money at the time he should have been doing a lot better. And then the humming and hawing of whether to sign a new contract etc., I will be glad when he's not here to be the first name on the team sheet.

Morelos cost 1 million pounds, has done a turn and will most likely leave on a free. He is another player who has badly let himself down. He had the chance to showcase his skills and talent up here but more often than not his temperament has let him down and let his team mates and the Club down as well. Both Steven Gerrard and now Gio in their times as manger have had to deal with silly situations around him and his value and stock in my opinion has plummeted. He will not I believe get the big move he always craved to the English Premier League. He will really have to start all over again I feel and will need to work hard to show going forward with whoever he ends up with that he can perform at a better level.

McGregor and Davis will no doubt retire. Airfield may be moved on also and look for a pay day somewhere. I believe he could carry on playing for someone and be beneficial for another team out there. I think he has more to give, but just not what we will need going forward.

If Gio is to retain his job, him, Wilson and the board have a monumental task next summer to overhaul the team, get them out this slump and try to regain good runs in Europe while fighting on all fronts domestically.

We still have a chance this year, yes I know that, but until the team currently can show they are ready for the challenges ahead and are willing to play for the current manager, it's hard to have any confidence going forward that any or at least most of them have it in them to turn this around, show a higher quality, hunger and desire, even fight that they want this. I'm not being harsh, it's the bare truth of the matter from what we have witnessed on the Park. So far injuries or not, winning teams don't back down and don't go down without a fight. All we supporters ask is for all of them to show heart and fight for the Club, nothing more nothing less.

And perhaps by starting tonight they may save their current Manager's job going forward, as without it they will certainly play a major role in his demise. I will be behind the team, the club and manager tonight, but anything short of what we ask for tonight will not be tolerated. No more excuses, Rangers players do your talking on the Park for the rest of the season and we shall see where we end up.

Let's do this 💙💙.
