Football News: My Reasons To Let Graham Potter Stay at Chelsea

My Reasons To Let Graham Potter Stay at Chelsea

None of us here is bearing any significant financial consequence of poor performance of the team, so I'd let Graham Potter remain at Chelsea for the following reasons:

1. Unstable squad: Having to work with an injury plagued squad initially then a bloated squad of over 30 senior players isn't a blessing but more or less a curse!

2. Mouthwatering Injuries: Absence due to injuries and suspension is definitely part of the game, but Chelsea seems to be very unfortunate in this regard this season. I know many will claim that the recruits should make up for that, but no, it has made things more difficult for Potter because injured players will definitely return to increase the number of players to work with. Furthermore, injuries have definitely made it difficult for him to establish the core of the team. Only Silva, Kai and Mount have enjoyed a healthy season so far.

3. Setup behind the scene: It's obvious that personnel behind the scene took a while, appointments are being made continuously. The winter recruitment might have been seen as a success, but it wasn't impeccable. The medical team is gradually taking shape and not fully established.

4. Breaks aren't preseason: Many believe that Potter had 2-3 weeks mourning period to shape the team, but I disagree. As I believe pressure doesn't help assimilation, the league has commenced already when the Queen passed away, so the race has started already. Even the winter recruits are already under immense pressure.

5. New Approach of the owners: I might be a young football fan but it is easy to say that the new management were very decisive while determining who stays and who goes. Like most footballers, personnel takes time to settle into their new environment.

6. Project: Looking at the age and characteristics of the players we bought so far under the new regime, with exemption of few like Koulibaly, Aubameyang and Zakaria, it all point towards a long term project. The setup has been projected to definitely take some time, so why can't we just wait?

7. Finances: Chelsea are already on the watch list of football financial authorities owning to the 600m spent on recruitment, adding the cost of terminating a manager on 5 year deal alongside his backroom staff will surely attract more unwanted attention.

8. Why stop now: Whether you like it or not, Potter's reign has commenced and players have started learning his perspectives. Though results haven't shown the efforts on the training pitch, that doesn't imply the group hasn't been working together! Occasionally fluid interchange during some matches has shown that work is being done, it's just taking longer to materialise.

9. Striker problem: Scoring problems has been well documented well before Potter came in. Though it has aggravated over months, the board has failed to provide adequate talent for this position. It is obvious that striker position has been a huge problem for Chelsea FC since the early days of the Roman reign.

10. Finally, Potter deserves at least a preseason, a trimmed squad and our love not hatred. It's a new regime, why not a change! Can't we have a Fergi or a Wenger! I am so much sold on Potter's brand of football that I believe he's worth the wait.

We need to admit that we have been well spoilt by the club's amazing success, so let's regroup, reshape and restrategize.
