There's No Need For Manchester United Fans To Panic

There's no need for Manchester United fans to panic, what will be will be. I like the core of this squad, especially the younger players. If we can develop them then that improves us without bringing anyone in. We also suffered quite a bit from injuries last season, hopefully with less games, less travelling and more recovery time that isn't something that is an issue this season.

We also had a new manager with new ideas come in mid-season while we were in a terrible spot. This time the manager has had time to review his squad, refine what he wants from them, and will have a pre-season to train them without the normal distractions and pressures that happen during the season.

Then when we consider that the performances actually started to improve since January (even if the results didn't follow) then there is at least a suggestion that the managers ideas are starting to get across. I'm not sure whether that is mostly down to him having longer to train them and the ideas starting to take hold, or whether moving disruptive influences out of the club in January allowed the remaining squad to become more harmonious and focused.

In reality it's probably a bit of both. Which in itself should be comforting to most fans as this summer we will continue to weed out the negative influences in the squad. While the manager will have even more time to bed in his ideas.

Finally whether we make the signings on the first day of the transfer window or the last day we will sign players.

Cunha is already here are training, as is the young lad Diego Leon. The former should be a big boost to the team, while the latter it remains to be seen where he is in terms of being able to make an impact. Maybe he'll need some time to settle or even a loan, or maybe he'll hit the ground running and prove to be a useful addition to the squad immediately.

No one really expected Ayden Heaven to play as well as he has in his limited minutes for us. Hopefully Leon is more like Heaven than he is like Sekou Kone (who has needed time to settle in England and at the higher level) .

Yes ideally we'd get the signings in sooner rather than later to give them time to settle and a better chance of having an immediate impact. Yet ultimately if a new signing scores 20 goals for us next season does it make a huge difference if all those goals come after Christmas or spread across the whole season? Probably not.

I fully expect us to sign Mbeumo, Brentford ultimately have two options, sell to us or lose him for nothing next summer. Common sense will likely prevail and he'll be in the red shirt sooner rather than later.

I also expect us to sign a striker, currently that looks most likely to be Watkins. Who if I'm honest wouldn't be my first choice, but he would still be an excellent choice. Experienced and EPL proven, ideally suited to the role that Amorim wants. Maybe a couple of years older than the ideal age, but a really good player for Obi to learn from. With Zirkzee and Cunha also able to play as a CF, along with Mbeumo when he signs then that probably gives us enough options up front given that we have no European football next season.

We will also sign a keeper, although this is unlikely to be the guaranteed first choice many want (myself included) . Yet there is a good chance that it will be a player good enough to take the No.1 spot by the end of the season (definitely in January when Onana will be at the AFCON) .

I also fully expect us to bring in a midfielder, but who this will be is anyone's guess at this point. It could be a younger, less expensive option who has potential, or an older player available on the cheap such as Douglas Luiz (although I don't think he's the ideal midfielder for us) .

We will have a better, more rounded squad this season, one that is able to play better and get better results than last season. Just have patience, you will need it as regardless of what business we do this summer, we will still be a couple of seasons away from a serious title challenge.

If you're patience is running out 4 weeks into the first summer transfer window with our new manager, then you absolutely won't last the distance.
