Differences Between Rangers Managers Russell Martin And Philippe Clement

You know, it's funny reading all the posts about Russell Martin and then looking back on Philippe Clement's time at Glasgow Rangers. What will be the main differences between the two?

If Clement had come in today without prior experience and was being backed in the transfer market the way Russell Martin is now, would we have seen a very different Rangers team under his tenure?

When Clement came in he started off well, but by the start of the new season it was all about wage restructuring and player restructuring and any new signings were more geared towards younger players with Nils Koppen going for players with more potential down the line and future sell on value with the likes of Igamane, Nsiala, Fernandez, Kasa, Cortes, Jeffe and Barron etc. I know thrown a couple of loan players in, but that's the reason we were bringing them in with a view to signing them permanently for reasons stated above. ☝️

Clement was seen as a safe pair of hands, a manager who had won league titles in Belgium and had a track record of being experienced and successful.

Whereas Martin is a young coach not really won much. He got Southampton promoted, but he seems to be seen as a riskier choice between the two managers.

Martin is a Philosophy coach apparently, aiming for long-term identity and youth development, but he's untested in the intensity of the Old Firm goldfish bowl?

Will his tactics and style of play work when we need a win or we're under pressure? will he change it up if he needs to or will he stick to his plan to a fault? Like I've read he will. Martin, from what I've read is passionate, strong on team building and bonding and he gets involved with players development so seems a hands on manager?

Clement was seen as calm and reserved, a steady hand you might say, but for some reason it fell apart for him. Was it down to his own management style and philosophy of the game or was it he was just at the club at the wrong time going through a period of big changes and players or should I say the team were not pulling all in the same direction which basically became Clement's downfall possibly a mixture of both?

Seems Martin is all about ball retention and being dominant on the ball very possession based football which he apparently takes from Pep?

But Russell hasn't faced the intensity especially being a manager, the full on pressure of managing one half of the old firm and neither have his new players.
So it is going to be a bit of a culture shock and that's where we split the men from the boys and we will see who holds firm and if any of our new guys buckle under it. Hopefully not.

What I've read is we will see some very good football on the eye once RM's style is fully implemented and if we have bought wisely and players hit the ground running. I'm very much of the opinion we may see us steam roller a few teams this new coming season.

I still reckon we will see some more new faces in the door and some old ones leave which by the end of the current transfer window we will have a team who is well up to the task and will give their all for the jersey and hopefully we see some entertaining football on show.

I'm hoping we get Turgeman in and he's not one of the strikers we have lost out on as I think he will be great up here from what I've been watching of him could be very clinical giving their chances we create.

The new players in especially Rothwell, Aasgaard and Cameron look great additions along with Djiga. well to be honest I look forward to seeing all our new players get a chance to shine and see what line up Martin sort of sticks with through the first 10 games.

The Panathinaikos game is a big one and will be a very tough game, but I have belief we can get past them.

Last year we had the beating of Celtic, if we can continue that trend and tighten up at the back and score a few more goals against the rest, then I don't see why we really can't challenge for the title.

I definitely think we have and will have a much stronger team than last season and I think we will see some good football on show and I think we will surprise a good few folk once momentum gets going.
