Football News: Aston Villa v Tottenham Hotspur Review

Aston Villa v Tottenham Hotspur Review

I think the Aston Villa performance yesterday was quite underrated. It was a very workman like performance, the only thing flashy was the goals, 2 incredible goals to be fair, Rogers with some individual brilliance and then 3 players with 3 pieces of world class skill, Cash passed it like Tony kroos, Digne controlled it and flicked it like prime Ronaldo and Buendia finished it like Henry, one of my favourite ever Aston Villa goals.

Negatives today: we started slowly and got punished. not sure about everyone else but I think Onana just isn't good enough, gives away a lot of ball and makes a lot of wrong decisions.

Positives today:

1. Martinez was back at his brilliant best for most parts (other than that one corner he got caught in no man's land).

2. Defensively pretty sound throughout, didn't give up to many real good chances to a team going well and full of attacking talent. Konsa and Torres looking good together and cash for all the stick he gets he does come up with goals and today an incredible assist of sorts, Digne had lumps took out of him but his assist was still sensational and I love his heart, desire, attitude and his love for the Villa.

3. Rogers with a cracking goal I hope it boosts his confidence, apart from the goal he has being improving the last few games, he had lumps kicked out of him today every chance they got.

4. Buendia is like a new signing, forget Assensio, Buendia when he's on it is just as good, has more energy and fight in him and I see a player who seems to love the villa.

5. Good to see Barkley back as another option, we will need him when things get busy.

6. Good looking bench today and our subs are not weakening our team.

7. I personally hate Spurs they are right up there with united for me, so beating them away is a huge plus point for me.

8. Again, we are mixing it up much better and don't look so predictable, can't beat a bit of variety.

I have to say since Monchi left we look a lot happier team, I honestly believe there was a lot of friction there with him and some of his treatment of players, I think maybe the players were blaming him, getting rid definitely seems to have settled things down, maybe that's just me but that's how I've seen it the last few weeks.

Hopefully, we can get some points from our next 2 league games, they will be tough but we have proved we can compete with the best and we will carry a good run of form into The Manchester City and Liverpool games.
