Football News: Timbers re-sign Fernandez

Argentinian forward Gaston Fernandez has agreed a deal with the Portland Timbers to stay with the MLS team.

The striker joined the team ahead of the 2014 season and made 32 appearances, scoring 7 goals and gaining 2 assists.

While initially first choice, by midway through the season he was mostly used from the bench as a late substitute.

With Diego Valeri recovering from anterior cruciate ligament surgery, the Timbers have moved to keep hold of Fernandez as cover.
