Football News: Schalke confirm Nastasic deal is close

Bundesliga side Schalke have confirmed that they are working on a deal for Manchester City defender Matija Nastasic.

The 21 year old centre back got off to a bright start after joining City from Fiorentina in 2012, but since then injuries have kept him on the sidelines.

Nastasic has failed to make a single appearance this season and now Schalke chief Clemens Tonnies has told Bild that a move is getting near.

"Yes, we are after him," Tonnies said. "Our coach, Roberto Di Matteo, has him in his plans. Also, the player absolutely wants to come to us."
