Football News: Barcelona transfer ban upheld by CAS
The Court of Arbitration for Sport has upheld the ban FIFA have placed on Barcelona from making incoming transfers for the next 2 windows.
Barcelona were found guilty of breaking regulations on the registering of minors as youth players by FIFA.
The Catalan club appealed to CAS, in an attempt to have the ban overturned, but CAS found that Barca breached the rules governing the protection of minors and the registration of those attending football academies.
Barca will now be unable to sign new players in the next two windows, though they can renew contracts and recall players currently out on loan to other clubs.
Barcelona released a statement lambasting the decision and have said they will continue to explore possible legal avenues to have the ban overturned, including an appeal to the Swiss Federal Court.
