Football News: Leicester jump the queue in race to sign Defoe

Leicester City have moved ahead in the race to sign former England striker Jermaine Defoe from Toronto FC.

Defoe has had an unhappy team since him move to Canada to join the MLS side, and is now desperately looking for a way out and back to the Premier League.

His representatives have been offering him to clubs all over England, Liverpool being one to reject the opportunity.

Harry Redknapp has publicly spoken of his desire to add Defoe to his QPR side, to aid in their fight against relegation.

But now Nigel Pearson has jumped to the front of the queue after the Foxes made an offer to the 32 year old goalscorer.
