Football News: Newcastle confirm release of Ben Arfa

One time French hope Hatem Ben Arfa is now set to sign for Ligue 1 side OGC Nice after having his Newcastle United contract terminated by 'mutual consent'.

The winger had been on loan to Hull City this season, but manager Steve Bruce tired of his attitude and sent him back to Tyneside.

Inconsistent, often injured and occasionally brilliant, Ben Arfa delighted the fans at times, though more often he frustrated managers with his attitude and injury problems.

Newcastle said in a statement: "Newcastle United can today confirm that Hatem Ben Arfa and the club have reached an agreement to terminate the contract between both parties with immediate effect by mutual consent. Newcastle United wishes Hatem all the best for his future."
