Chelsea youngster Alex Kiwomya has joined Barnsley on an initial month long loan.

The England U19 striker left Rotherham United to sign for Chelsea in 2010 but has yet to break into the first team.

"I'm young, I want to express myself and show what I can do," Kiwomya told the club website. "Danny Wilson is the perfect manager and it's the perfect time.

"I'm really glad to be here. I know a couple of the lads. I've played with Ross [Turnbull] and I know Mason [Holgate], they're a great set of lads and I'm looking forward to playing with them."

His dad, Andy, and uncle, Chris, were both professional footballers.
