Chelsea's young starlet Tomas Kalas is to have his loan to Bundesliga club Cologne ended early.

The 21 year old defender has struggled badly in Germany, failing to make even one appearance during his loan spell and is now set to return back to the West London club.

Chelsea have already set up loan options for the rest of the season, with the much closer to home QPR being the favourites to clinch his signing for the rest of the season.

Viktor Kolar, the player's agent, said, "We have been negotiating the situation surrounding Tomas Kalas and there are a number of options from the United Kingdom and the Netherlands.

"One of them indeed is Queens Park Rangers. We want Tomas to play regularly and would like to have his future sorted out before the start of the transfer window, so that the matter is concluded to the satisfaction of all parties concerned."

The Czech youngster is highly regarded at Stamford Bridge, the chance to give him more experience in the Premier League while close at hand to monitor him is thought to be the club's preference.
