Football News: Ronny Deila hopes Martin Odegaard sees his future in Glasgow

Ronny Deila has again reiterated that he is hopeful that Norwegian wonderkid Martin Odegaard will choose Celtic over a mass of European clubs chasing the 15 year old's signature

Odegaard is regarded as the brightest young prospect in the European game, the continent's biggest and best clubs like Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund and Liverpool among others are all battling to sign him from Stromsgodset, Deila's former club.

However, the Celtic manager believes the teenager could still opt for a move to Scotland in order to receive more first-team opportunities.

The Celtic manager, who gave Odegaard his debut for Stromsogodset last season, said yesterday "He is a very good player, but we have to stand in line. There are 20 clubs, maybe more, who want him,'

"He has been to clubs all over Europe; to Barcelona, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Dortmund and Liverpool. PSG wanted him but he hasn't had time to visit so there is some hard competition.

Deila cryptically added "I have control over that situation, I know what is happening there. This is more about his choices."

"What is his thinking now? Is it go to a big club and try to break in there? Or go to a smaller club in not such a good league but where it easier to get into the first-team?"

Deila believes Stromsgodset will cash in on the teenager before he can leave as a free agent at the end of his contract next summer, although the Celtic boss admitted that they would not be able to compete on price with the likes of Real Madrid.

"I think it is up to Martin. If he chooses Real Madrid, it would be what they want to pay. If he chooses Celtic, then there are different prices."

Midweek reports that Odegaard would be signing for Real Madrid are looking like wide of the mark as the chase for the Norwegian prodigy starts to heat up to boiling point.
