Lifelong Walsall fan Pomlett also has the option to purchase the freehold for the Bescot Stadium from Bonser. Pomlett said: "There is a platform here to move this club forward. My takeover of the club has been ongoing for a number of months, which has allowed me to work alongside my fellow directors in making a number of strategic changes and appointments that have come to fruition. I firmly believe that, on the football side of the club we have made some excellent appointments and that (manager) Darrell (Clarke) and his team are the right men to take this club forward. Having sat on the interview panel for both Darrell and (academy manager) Miguel Llera, I am confident that the club is in good hands. It is vital that we build strong relationships with our supporters if we are to grow and prosper. I'm looking forward to a bright future for everyone connected to Walsall Football Club."

Bury Game Suspended

The EFL have suspended Bury's opening League One game at home to MK Dons after the Lancashire club failed to show evidence of financial viability before the deadline they set. Bolton Wanderers however did meet the deadline, and their first league match will take place as scheduled. Bury's second game of the season is now under review as well. An EFL statement read: "Following continued and comprehensive discussions, the EFL board is not satisfied it has received the necessary evidence in regard to the outstanding information it requires that demonstrates how Bury will be funded moving forwards. As a result of not meeting Monday's 17:00 deadline, which had been extended on two previous occasions, the board feels it has been placed in an unenviable position and, regrettably, has opted to take the reluctant decision to suspend Saturday's opening day fixture with MK Dons under the provision of EFL regulation 28.2. In addition, the EFL board, if not in possession of the necessary evidence by 12:00 on Friday, 2 August, will make a determination as to whether to suspend Bury's away fixture at Accrington Stanley."

Paris Saint-Germain winger Julian Draxler admits the club have problems coping with the huge mega-egos in the side. Draxler said: "All of them are exceptional players, it is hard to find in the world players of this level. But of course they have their own minds, their own heads. They live football, they want to score every game, so they have an ego. So sometimes it's not easy for the whole team, but if you are lucky enough to play alongside these players, it's just a pleasure every day."
