Football News: Disgraced Birmingham owner Yeung could be out of jail next week
Birmingham City's disgraced owner, Carson Yeung, will be set for a bail hearing on Monday pending an appeal hearing regarding his five counts of money laundering a total of £55million.
The actual appeal will not take place until next year, but he could well be released on bail until the result of the appeal has been decided.
Yeung is the majority shareholder in Birmingham International Holdings Limited, the Blues' parent company, and was convicted in March of the crimes.
Despite his convictions, the Football League have put little pressure on the club to force him to sell under the 'fit and proper persons' ruling.
Contrast that with their treatment of Leeds United owner Massimo Cellino, whose one conviction for tax avoidance, a much lesser crime, will be spent early next year anyway, who the league are trying to force to sell his stake in the Yorkshire club.
Both owners personally own below the 30% requirement to come under the fit and proper person test ruling, but only one is being put under any pressure by Shaun Harvey, who is best remembered by Leeds and Bradford fans, for helping see them into administration.
