Football News: Marriner dumped into League 1 following Everton nightmare

After a performance to forget in the Manchester City v Everton Premier League game last weekend, Andre Marriner finds himself relegated to League One for the coming weekend.

While Citeh face Leicester City and the Toffees take on QPR, Marriner will be in the middle of Sheffield United's visit to Fleetwood Town.

Marriner was heavily criticised for his performance in the light blue of Man City's victory over the royal blue of Everton, with a number of decisions questionable at best.

In particular, he managed to miss seeing two flying kicks performed by City players, which connected painfully with their Scouse opponents, leaving clear stud marks to highlight the fouls.

Is the punishment deserved, or is it just punishing the Football League, who are getting stuck with an underperforming referee?
