Review of the Day

Contracts

Athletic Bilbao have given Inaki Williams a new contract, which runs until 2028. The contract includes a 135m euro buyout clause.

Transfers

Free agent striker Fraizer Campbell, who was released by Hull City in the summer, has signed for Huddersfield Town.

Just 4 days after signing for Manchester City from Girona, Pedro Porro has joined Real Valladolid on loan, with an option to make the deal permanent at the end of the season. Also leaving City is defender Eliaquim Mangala on a free transfer to Valencia.

Frosinone have taken Swiss midfielder Nicolas Haas on loan from Atalanta.

Teenage Spanish midfielder Sergio Gomez has signed for Huesca on loan from Borussia Dortmund.

Former Liverpool defender Gabriel Paletta has been released by Chinese Super League side Jiangus Suning.

Everton have sold Henry Onyekuru to Monaco for just over £12m. Leaving Monaco is French striker Irvin Cardona for £1.35m to Stade Brest 29.

Udinese have paid around £5.4m for Brazilian midfielder Walace from Hannover 96.

Former Crewe Alexandra defender Jon Guthrie has signed for Livingston. The 27 year old was released by Walsall in the summer.

Morecambe have signed teenage Manchester United defender George Tanner on a season-long loan deal.

Non-league striker Dion Charles has joined Accrington Stanley after Stanley paid an undisclosed fee to Southport.

Injury Round-Up

Liverpool keeper Alisson Becker has been ruled out "for the next few weeks" with a calf injury picked up against Norwich City.

Perisic Undergoes Bayern Medical

Former Manchester United target Ivan Perisic has taken a medical ahead of making a loan to buy move to Bayern Munich. The 30 year old Croatian winger would be only the 10th player to make a loan switch to Bayern, if the move from Inter Milan is completed as expected. The previous 9 loanees were James Rodriguez, Kingsley Coman, Serdar Tasci, Takashi Usami, Massimo Oddo, Ze Roberto, Landon Donovan, Emil Kostadinov and Mark Hughes.

Nicholson Takes Role At Rivals

Former Torquay United manager Kevin Nicholson has joined local rivals Exeter City as their head of coaching. The 38 year old's job will be to "ensure that there is a consistency in coaching methods" at all age groups and through to the first team.

Kightly Retires

Former Wolverhampton Wanderers winger Michael Kightly has announced his retirement from the game at the age of 33. He still had one year left on a contract with Southend United. Kightly said: "It's been a great career but one that has been tough physically, and it's been tough mentally as well, more so in the last couple of years. It wasn't that difficult a decision to make. I thought about it in the summer and then I came back to pre-season and thought the time was right for me. It's frustrating when your legs can't do what they used to do. I probably could play on for another year, or a couple of years, but I don't see the point to be honest. I was lucky enough to fulfil my dream of playing in the Premier League so I'm really proud at all that I achieved."

Dons Make Complaint

Aberdeen have complained to UEFA and Croatian opponents HNK Rijeka over the treatment of their fans. The Dons' fans were unhappy at being placed inside what they described as a cage with poor toilet facilities.

Kenya Sack Head Coach

Kenya have become the latest participants in the summer's African Cup of Nations to part ways with their head coach. They were eliminated from the CHAN (African Nations Championship for locally based players) just over a week ago and that precipitated the end of Sebastien Migne's reign. A Kenyan FA statement read: "FKF and Migne have agreed on a settlement for the coach, over a period of time. The federation wishes to thank coach Migne for his exemplary work and high standard of professionalism during his tenure, which culminated in the country qualifying for the 2019 Afcon tournament for the first time in 15 years. The reorganization and appointment process for a new technical bench is already underway and the team to steer the Harambee Stars forward will be announced shortly. We wish the coach all the best in his future endeavours, this even as we turn our focus on the upcoming 2021 Afcon qualifiers, with a view to try and qualify for the final tournament."

Emenalo Leaves Monaco

Former Chelsea sporting director Michael Emenalo has left the same role at Monaco by "mutual consent". Emenalo only joined the French club in November 2017 after quitting his Chelsea job.

Bony Training With League Two Side

Former Manchester City striker Wilfried Bony is currently training with Newport County following his summer release from Swansea City. The free agent forward played 4 times for his country, Cote D'Ivoire, in the summer in the AFCON in Egypt.

Bury Staff Ask Owner Dale To Sell Up

Bury's staff have taken the highly unusual step of posting a statement on the club's website asking the owner to sell up. The statement read: "We have received an offer for the sale of Bury Football Club, one that we all at the club believe is a very good offer. This offer is the only lifeline for the future of the club and we implore Steve Dale to accept it, as it has the full backing of all of the senior staff at Bury FC." Dale responded with a statement of his own, which continued to seek to blame the English Football League for the club's troubles, despite it clearly being his own fault, as he admitted he had no idea how bad the club's financial problems were when he bought it. Dale's statement read: "Due to the agenda with the EFL, my health and recent events at the club I can confirm I am happy to pass the club on to the next custodian. For an agreed consideration and them being the right fit for Bury." Bury are facing expulsion from the league due to Dale being unable to provide proof the funds are there to complete the season.
