Football News: New Everton deal for Naismith

Scotland international Steven Naismith has been rewarded for his recent fine form with a new contract that will keep him at the club until summer 2019.

Naismith signed for the Merseyside club in 2012 on a free transfer after refusing to have his contract transferred over to Charles Green's newco after the financial collapse of Rangers.

After initially struggling for form during his first season at Everton in which he came of the bench 20 times, Naismith has become a key player for Roberto Martinez and has found the net 6 times this season, most recently against QPR last weekend.

The attacker, capped 34 times for Scotland started his career at Kilmarnock before moving to Rangers in 2007 for £1.9m expressed his delight to Everton TV by stating "This is probably the best form of my career. I'm delighted to have agreed an extention which will keep me here for a few more years yet"
