Football News: Red Bulls appoint new sporting director
The New York Red Bulls have moved to appoint Ali Curtis as the MLS club's new sporting director.
Curtis will take over responsibility for scouting, player acquisition, overseeing the coaching staff, youth development, as well as looking after the team's budget and ensuring salary cap compliance.
"On behalf of the New York Red Bulls, we are all very pleased to add Ali to our team ahead of the 2015 season," said General Manager Marc de Grandpre.
"As a former player and league executive, Ali brings a wealth of MLS knowledge to the Sporting Director position and we're excited to bring him on board."
As well as working in a number of different roles within the MLS itself, including supervising the MLS's Homegrown Player Program, Curtis also spent a couple of years as an analyst for JP Morgan Chase Private Bank.
